Any game that starts with a team – any team – versus the Ravens and ends with that same team beating the Ravens is a great game for me…
I must admit I was quite surprised by this game. I was expecting the Ravens to really kick their defense into high gear going into the playoffs, but, they looked more like a clown college on a juggling tour.
I don’t remember a lot about this game because, like may of the other games that involve the Ravens, I was only watching passively, UNTIL, I noticed that they were losing. Then I decided to get involved…
But what I do remember, I liked. And, I do like the Chargers and I think Philip Rivers is at least a tier two quarterback – not superior like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, but, in the same league with Drew Brees and Aaron Rogers.
It was so nice to see the Chargers playing their game. But, where have they been? This is the first game of the entire season that I remember seeing the Chargers really in charge. And the first game in a long time that I’ve see the Raven completely unravelled. Awesome.
Every time I looked up, the Ravens were turning the ball over – interceptions, fumbles – just sloppy. Again, very nice to see. 🙂
And like I say about all of these games, defend yourself, but, if you can’t score points, you can’t win the game. The Chargers didn’t seem to need to do a lot to defend themselves, the Ravens’ offense was unusually weak. I don’t think the Ravens offense is super strong to begin with – Flacco carries the offense – but, they just weren’t in the game at all.
Ravens strength is in their defense and they didn’t cause much grief. The Chargers capitalized on every opportunity that fell in their laps. 34-14 later and the Chargers have a win.
I think this was just a fluke though. The Ravens had a bad week and the Chargers had a really good week. Let’s see what happens next week. But, for this week, its a good day in Cleveland…
