Review

Draft day is about just that; The NFL draft. The day it happens and how it happens. In this case, told from the perspective of The Cleveland Browns. Why is this important? Because I’m a Clevelander and a die-hard Browns fan. That really shouldn’t be news by now – I’ve written about the Browns several times here… this is just the latest installment… there will be more…

Story: I was skeptical as to whether this film would be nothing more than your typical sports movie. And, I was sure they were just using the Browns as a minor character. Wrong and wrong. The writers actually told some of the story of the Browns as a franchise and talked about how bad the Browns are, but, how the Browns probably have the most historic and dedicated club in the NFL. Loved it.

And while the actual draft dance is annoying, the writers did a great job of building suspense, creating tension and turning the tables. Exactly how the Browns roll anyway. An emotional rollercoaster that rarely ends well. You’ll have to see the movie to find out if it ends well…

Performances: Kevin Costner is Kevin Costner. After I saw him in No Way Out, every other character has been the same. Jennifer Garner on the other hand, was really good. And Frank Langella was good too. Dennis Leary was annoying, as usual and Diddy was bad. This movie was really about the process…

Visual: It was fantastic. If you’re a football fan, you will love the way they displayed the teams and their facilities. The editing was also really dramatic. All very good.

Rating: Surprisingly, I liked this movie alot. B+. This was supposed to be a movie in the middle of the afternoon to take my mind off of everything. I was expecting nothing and got a sentimental story. If you’re a Browns fan, you have to see it. If you’re a football fan, you have to see it. If you’re a sports fan, you have to see this movie. See this movie…
