Review
I love Las Vegas! I even love saying I love Las Vegas! BUT, I do Vegas differently than most… I don’t stay in the big, casino hotels anymore unless I’m there on business and everything I need to do is in that hotel. Otherwise, I try to stay at hotels without casinos and visit every, single hotel on the strip… Love it.
So on my most recent trip I stayed at The Four Points Las Vegas. It’s a Starwood hotel and I’m a Starwood Preferred member… Or at least I was until they were bought by Marriott for whom I am not a fan… But, for the purposes of this review, let’s focus on the Four Points just as a property…
Atmosphere: This hotel is just right. Modern but not cold… Clean but not sterile. Wood tones with pops of color… Not convention hotel size but bigger than your local motel. And it’s not like The Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis Hotels where you feel watched and judged while also being pampered… So much material for your therapist…
Even W Hotels make you feel like you should be more hip than you really are… But, I find that Four Points hotels tend to strike the right balance between upscale and comfortable.
Amenities: There’s a gym… There’s a pool… There’s a bar. There’s a business center. Go to the business center FIRST, then the bar. Bartender was a nice older gentlemen, but, the bar was scarce. It’s Las Vegas… pick a hotel with a casino, rockin’ bar and party, party, party. Then go back to the Four Points for some quiet time to regenerate for the next day. Drinks optional but always recommended…
The front desk attendants served as the concierge as well, which, is a good use of employees in a manageable sized hotel. They were all friendly and helpful. I don’t recall seeing a bell staff, but, I’m sure they had one… I just don’t use them in any hotel.
Room service was good. Fast, efficient, friendly, tasty.
Accessibility: It’s about 15 minutes from the Airport which was nice, but, this Four Points is a few blocks from the strip. If you’re a walker, you won’t mind. If you’re not a walker, you will mind. The good news: Along the walk to the strip, you have any number of food and convenience establishments with which to choose.
Rooms: I really like the rooms here because they aren’t too overdone, but you can be very comfortable. Modern bathrooms not much bigger than your average hotel bathroom and the same for the size of the rooms. You feel like you’re getting what you paid for…
The final word: The Four Points Las Vegas gets a solid A. If you’re making a trip to Vegas, I highly recommend staying at a regular hotel and visiting the more casino-commercial hotels. I found the Four Points to be such a refreshing change from my previous visits when I stayed at the casino hotels. When I was done with the show lights and glitter, I just walked away from it only to return when I was ready for more. It was as if I had an escape from the crowds and noise.
Consider it as an option on your next trip the Las Vegas… I certainly will again.
