So that’s it. All done. I’ve avoided talking about the Browns because when you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything. The Dog Pound is #1. I said something good. Now here’s what I really think… (I tried)
My friend John sent me a video clip of a Browns fan on a rant. I watched it and all I could think to myself was – SPOT ON – So, I included it at the end of this post. It compelled me to purge my pain…
Week 13 and WE had to play the Ravens. Now, I don’t care how good the Ravens are – WE need to beat them. WE aint gettin’ that done. So, I can only resort to namecalling – The Baltimorons have a killer defense and WE have no offense. If you can’t score points, you can’t win. Defense alone is NOT gonna get it done…
Week 14 and WE played the Steelers. Again with the offense/defense dilemna – no points, no win. Per usual, the Browns were successful in holding off the Steelers until the end of the game at which point they characteristically gave away the win. Cardiac Kids…
I’m mostly gobsmacked over the fact that WE had 2 weeks in a row with historically adversarial teams for the Browns and no win. I remember as a kid – When there were no Ravens – our biggest rivals were the Steelers. Now, because we have the Baltimoron’s at which to throw darts, the Steelers aren’t so bad. But 2 weeks in a row? That’s just overkill. But, it gets worse…
WE have to do this again for the last 2 weeks of the regular season – Week 16 the Ravens and week 17 the Steelers. So, I give up… Until next year that is…
All Cleveland Browns fans should be required to go to rehab – like drug addicts. The relationship WE have is exactly that dichotomy. In what healthy relationship can one party take constant disappointment to the other party’s lack-of-performance? And isn’t that the same girlfriend who’s telling her girlfriend how her husband beats the pants off of her every week, but, she stays for more abuse because its her duty as a loyal partner?
The Browns are an abusive husband and we the fans are the battered wife who stays because she has no where else to go… No, no, no – She stays for the kids… 🙂 Actually, a marriage troubled by abuse is in a better place than us… At least they can hide it from the rest of the world. Big, dark sunglasses won’t hide our black eyes. The whole world is watching us get beat. And I mean that in both uses of the word…
The beatings make us bleed… The beatings make us ache.. For the Browns we suffer. It’s a wealth of emotions few football fans have to deal with. I can’t think of another team who’s ups and downs are so dramatic. Though we get BEAT a lot – A LOT, we’ll defend the brown and orange to the death. WE fought to keep a team that doesn’t fight to honor us on the field. And WE don’t care.
That’s what love’s got to do with it Tina…
