I remember the first time I ever had Wendy’s… It was the late 70’s and we were visiting a close family friend who had recently moved to Columbus, Ohio. For those of you who don’t know, Wendy’s corporation is headquartered in COLUMBUS, OHIO. I strongly dislike Columbus, Ohio so you’ll bear with me if my comments stray to my dislike of COLUMBUS, OHIO. Back to my first visit to Wendy’s…
It was a restaurant like McDonald’s, but, with hamburgers that were square. And delicious… and they had these ice cream/milkshake things called, FROSTY’S!!! I thought it was the best thing I’d ever had… Jump to present day and I think Wendy’s is one of the worst fast food chains.
I recently tried their pretzel bacon cheeseburger… it was not so great. In fact, in comparison to McDonald’s Daily Double, I’d recommend the Daily Double. For the price and the quality of the burger. A couple of things struck me about this offering…
First, it was not prepared very well. Now, I have noticed, depending on the location/neighborhood for which a fast food restaurant operates, you may or may not get your selection prepared to company standards. Nicer neighborhoods tend to produce nicer food. I was apparently in a not-so-nice neighborhood…
The burger was dry and shriveled up, the toppings were uneven and the bun was a pretzel. I can live with the pretzel thing because its the latest trend for many retail food chains right now, but, I’ve noticed a more frequent pattern with Wendy’s.
Neighborhood hasn’t seemed to make a difference in preparation quality. It’s all been pretty bad – no matter where I’ve been. Service and speed of delivery were also below average. So much so that I’ve stopped eating Wendy’s even in emergencies.
That means, I try to stay away from fast food chains all together and make healthier meal choices. However, on those occasions when I have no other choices, I still find myself gravitating to the chains that provide better selections and better preparation. Wendy’s service is bad, the food is now bad and their prices are slightly higher than many others across the board.
Skip Wendy’s! Burger King is winning the war on creative marketing options and McDonald’s can claim victory in volume and good food quality – believe it or not. But, an even better food option: Go to this place called THE GROCERY STORE. They guarantee fresh food at better prices and let you decide the preparation quality.
Wendy’s gets an F… Grocery store gets an A…
