How many times have you watched some public figure make a fool of themselves because they cheated on their wife with the nanny or got out of a car to awaiting cameras wearing a mini dress and no underwear? Too many times. It’s a never ending cycle of bad decisions…
The Vital Organ Theory of Decision Making is the idea that human beings make many of their important decisions using one of 3 vital organs: The heart, the genitalia or the brain. And to take the theory one step further, the sexes tend to own the rights to one organ over another. To generalize for dramatic purposes, women tend to make their decisions with their hearts; men tend to make their decisions with their junk; and the truth of the matter is this: Both sexes need to learn the override process to allow their BRAINS to make their decisions.
Now, these are not absolutes. I repeat – these are not absolutes. I know women who make decisions with their junk and men who make decisions with their hearts. But it’s a rare occasion and I’m generalizing here folks. What’s more rare is the number of people who make decisions with their brains. It’s not always the easiest or most popular choice. It’s why people kick themselves after a decision has gone terribly wrong – They used the wrong vital organ.
This column was created to display and shed some light on the bad decisions people in the public eye make. To show that they’re human beings first, and public figures second. It’s also an opportunity for you to identify some of your bad patterns and shut them down before YOU become a public spectacle…
So have at it. Public examples to help you improve your decision-making prowess. Read them… absorb them… learn from them.
