I’m a condiment junkie. If I could shoot mustard into my veins, I would do it. So, I’m always on the lookout for new, interesting condiments… any kind of condiments… in any combination of flavors. I like to try new flavors as well – like balsamic ketchup or my latest curiosity is balsamic mayonnaise. Mmmmm…
But, for the purposes of this post, I’m focused on pickles… and relish. Some years back, I came across a pickle brand called Wickles Pickles. Pickle chips and relish. I’ve eaten no other pickles or relish since.
I’ve even gotten my friend Lisa hooked on the pickle chips. At first she resisted citing her Jewish heritage… She said, “Jews don’t eat sweet pickles, only dill!” I then asked her what Jesus ate since she now thinks she’s Catholic and prays to him every Sunday…
In any event, after I gave her a jar of the chips, I only found out that she loved them because her daughter Sydney told me she barely got to eat any because her mother damn-near ate the whole jar. They really are that good…
Let me tell you about these pickles…
They are sweet pickles, but, they’ve got a bit of a kick. The kick comes from the peppers that float in the juice. Do you hear this… peppers infuse the pickle juice and spice the chips. Delicious…
And the relish. I actually eat the relish more than the chips because I eat a lot of beef hot dogs. But, same idea – the relish has a spice too.
You have to try them but there is a caveat; They’re hard to find. Not all grocery stores carry them, so, check around. That might sound crazy, but, I search for them. Now, Lisa and I compare notes about where to buy them. Maybe we’ll start a club…
Once you try them, you’ll never go back to Vlasic….
